Amfiteatre de Tarragona
Built in the second half of the 1st century AD with room for around 14,000 spectators, and remodelled in 221. On 21 January 259 the bishop Fructuosus and his deacons Augurius and Eulogius were executed in the arena, and the ground was later built over twice: a Visigothic basilica, then the Romanesque church of Santa Maria del Miracle in the 12th century, whose lower walls survive. The municipal history museum manages the enclosure, which holds all three structures, and it is listed as a national cultural asset under code 208-MH.
