Cyclone Funso (2012)

The storm grew out of an area of convection in the Mozambique Channel, and Météo-France upgraded it to tropical cyclone status, the equivalent of a 120 km/h hurricane, early on 20 January 2012 once the eye was better established. Proximity to land disrupted the convection late on 21 January and it weakened. Its cloud shield skirted Madagascar to the east and Mozambique to the west as it moved down and out of the channel, and it produced flooding in Mozambique and Malawi.
