Bàu Cá train wreck
Train 183 left Nha Trang station at 5am and overturned at Km 1668+400, near Bàu Cá station in what is now Trảng Bom district, Đồng Nai province. Railway officials put the cause down to loss of braking, with the train reported to have accelerated before reaching a C-shaped curve about 500 metres beyond the station; tampering was also blamed, and the accounts of the cause are disputed. Vietnamese reporting records more than 200 killed, and a railway cemetery dated to the day of the wreck stands in Tây Hoà commune.
