Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac
The project was pushed through by Jacques Chirac and inaugurated on 20 June 2006, with Ateliers Jean Nouvel responsible for the building and its screen of trees along the Seine. The collections are indigenous art and material culture from Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas, and the museum carried the working name Musée des Arts Premiers before it opened. Step-free throughout and fitted with a changing table, it sits a short walk upstream of the Eiffel Tower.
