Institut du monde arabe
Nouvel worked here with Gilbert Lézénès, Pierre Soria and Architecture-Studio, the team chosen in 1981 for the first of Mitterrand's grands travaux. The south wall of moucharabieh apertures, finished in 1987, is the part that made his name with a general public: mechanical diaphragms set in a glass curtain, reading the light. Four bus routes, the 67, 75, 87 and 89, stop at a sheltered platform named after the building, though that platform is mapped as having no tactile paving.
