Earthquakes of magnitude 7.5 and above in Indonesia from 1950 to 1999
Map of 7 locations in Indonesia
Between 1950 and the end of the century, the seismic record for the Indonesian archipelago accumulated a long run of very large ruptures, from deep shocks beneath the Banda Sea to shallow offshore events that pushed tsunamis onto Flores, Sanana and Biak. These are those events as the catalogues and the contemporary record describe them, in the order they happened. Each pin marks where a documented earthquake originated.
