Typhoon Yagi (2024)
Yagi made landfall over Casiguran, Aurora, in the Philippines on 2 September and weakened as it crossed the rugged terrain of the Cordillera Central in Luzon. After an eyewall replacement cycle it reintensified rapidly to a second Category 5 peak with one-minute sustained winds of 270 km/h, the only tropical cyclone recorded to reach Category 5 twice in the South China Sea. Its remnants brought flooding and landslides to Myanmar, where at least 433 deaths and 79 missing were confirmed.
