Cyclone Ambali (2019)
Ambali grew from an area of convection along a trough between the Seychelles and the Chagos Archipelago in early December. Météo-France upgraded it to intense tropical cyclone status at 18:00 UTC on 5 December after an 80 km/h jump in winds over twelve hours, then to very intense tropical cyclone six hours later, the first such rating in the basin since Fantala in 2016. JTWC data put the increase at 185 km/h in 24 hours.
