Wohnstadt Carl Legien

Bruno Taut with Franz Hillinger, 1928 to 1930, and the only component of the seven built inside a fully developed inner district, in Prenzlauer Berg. Where the peripheral estates spread into planting, here the courtyards are open on one side so the green runs out to the street rather than being enclosed by it. The name is the trade unionist Carl Legien's, and the estate has carried it since it was built.
