Still widely called the Ibn Battouta, the Tangier ground is being expanded from roughly 65,000 to 75,600 to serve as the northern Morocco hub. Its position matters to the tournament's geography: Tangier is the Moroccan city closest to the Spanish and Portuguese venues across the strait.
