Nassau Hall

Built in 1756, the oldest building at Princeton and originally the entire university under one roof: classrooms, dormitory, library and chapel. It housed the Continental Congress in 1783, making it the seat of the United States government for those months, and it now holds the main administrative offices along with some classrooms and the University Chapel. Each graduating class adds a sprig of ivy to the walls, which is why the stonework is covered the way it is.
