Low Memorial Library

Completed in 1895 at the centre of Columbia's Morningside Heights campus, sited so that the quad's terraces and steps all resolve on its portico. It stopped being the main library long ago and now works as the university's administrative building, which keeps it at the symbolic centre while emptying it of the function it was named for.
