First Bank of the United States

Chartered in 1791 under Alexander Hamilton and in operation until 1811, the marble-fronted bank reopened to the public on 1 July 2026 after a multi-year, $43 million renovation, marked with a ribbon cutting by the park and the Independence Historical Trust. The exhibits inside were developed with the U.S. Department of State and Drexel University. It had been closed to visitors for decades before this.
