Battle of Dunkeld

BTL32, fought in Perth and Kinross on 21 August 1689, a month after Killiecrankie, between Jacobites and Government troops and recorded as a Government victory. The fighting ran through the town itself: Jacobite forces surrounded and attacked Dunkeld, and most of the town was destroyed. The cathedral, which the defenders held, keeps its own account of the day.
