Battle of Culloden

BTL6, fought in the Highlands on 16 April 1746 between Jacobites and Government troops, and recorded as a Government victory. Designation did not settle the ground: in May 2018 a Highland Council committee voted twelve to eight to approve luxury homes at Viewhill Farm, inside both the Culloden Battlefield Conservation Area and the Inventory boundary, on land historians say formed part of the battlefield and where soldiers are likely to be buried.
