Hamer Hall
Opened as the Melbourne Concert Hall and designed by John Truscott, whose interior is the reason bright orange reads as formal here rather than municipal. Acoustics were the long-standing complaint and were largely dealt with in the multi-million dollar upgrade; the dead spots people still mention are mostly folklore. The centre of the stalls is where the sound wraps around you, with row J seats 26 and 27 the ones to ask for, and the seats to avoid are at the very ends of the balcony rows.
