Arènes d'Arles
The amphitheatre was raised around 80-90 AD on the orders of Domitian, part of the Flavian enlargement of the colony of Arelate. It was classified a monument historique in 1840 and became component 164-001 of the Roman and Romanesque monuments inscribed by UNESCO in 1981, with the Ministry of Culture's Mérimée record filed as PA00081119. It is open to visitors, and the stepped tiers and vaulted galleries make the interior only partly navigable on wheels.
