Moderating a collection

When you create or edit a collection, its Sharing settings ask what happens to new locations: they go live at once, or they wait for your approval. Pick the second and the collection is curated: whoever may add to it, nothing reaches the map until you or an editor says yes.

Pending locations land in the collection's moderation queue. Approve or reject them one at a time, or select several and reject them together. Approving publishes immediately. Rejecting keeps it off the public map, though you can always reconsider and approve it later. A submitter who was signed in when they contributed is told either way: the outcome shows up in their notifications. When you reject something you can add a short reason, and they see that too, on the location and alongside the notification. It's worth writing one for anything that isn't obvious spam. Anonymous submissions are the exception. Nobody is attached to them, so there is nobody to notify.

Only owners and editors see the queue. Contributors can add locations but can't approve or reject anyone else's. Add more editors from the members page if you need more hands reviewing. Only owners can invite people.

Write a short description covering what belongs in your collection and what doesn't. It saves you from rejecting the same kind of location over and over.
