The Stag's Head
Records put a pub on this corner of Dame Court and Dame Lane as far back as 1770, but the room you drink in comes from the extensive rebuild of the mid-1890s. The stag motif runs through the fittings: into the stained glass, into the tile mosaics and across a great deal of dark wood, on more than one level. A restored advertising mosaic for the pub is set into the Dame Street footpath, some distance from its doors.
