The Palace Bar
This Fleet Street pub traces back to 1823, and Patrick Kavanagh called it "the most wonderful temple of art". For most of two centuries it drew writers, editors, journalists and playwrights. The room is high-ceilinged, with a lot of woodwork and tiling and a back room lit by a skylight. The small snug at the front has been a meeting place for decades.
